In DC Comics, the main story takes place on Earth One, while Marvel somehow wound up calling its prime universe Earth-616. (This convention goes beyond comics; in Rick and Morty the main plotline takes place in Dimension C-137).
Simply put, Earth-616 in the comics is based on our Earth. Mysterio also says that he’s from Earth-833. This is yet another nod to the comics, as Earth-833 is the home of William Braddock — aka Spider-UK — who is an England-based iteration of the web-slinging hero.

The mainstream Marvel universe was designated Earth-616 in, of all places, a Captain Britain story published exclusively in the United Kingdom.

Of these, there are three “main” ones: Earth-616 – The universe in which the vast majority of the Marvel comics stories take place. Typically, unless otherwise specified, any given Marvel comic book probably takes place in this universe. Earth-1610 – the so-called Ultimate comics universe.
Who are the heroes of the Earth?
Earth’s major heroes (the ones who get involved in most of the important events) are the Amazing Spider-Man, the Invincible Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme, Daredevil, Black Panther, the Mighty Thor, the Incredible Hulk, the Fantastic Four, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s director Nick Fury, and Captain America.
Earth-616 has all the features of our reality: same countries, same personalities (politicians, movie stars, etc.), same historical events (World War II, 9/11, etc.), and so on. However, it also contains new ones, such as countries like Wakanda, Genosha, and Krakoa, and organizations like the espionage agency, S.H.I.E.L.D. and its enemy, Hydra .
Demons – evil magical beings who take affairs in the matters of the universe, one of the most notorious being Mephisto. Others include Nightmare, D’Spayre, N’astirh, Dormammu, and Shuma-Gorath . N’Garai – lived on Earth millions of years ago but left to live in another dimensional plane.
Most of the superhumans owe their powers to the Celestials, cosmic entities who visited Earth one million years ago and experimented on our prehistoric ancestors (a process they also carried out on several other planets). This resulted in the creation of two hidden races, the godlike Eternals and the genetically unstable Deviants, in addition to giving some humans an “x-factor” in their genes, which sometimes activates naturally, resulting in sometimes superpowered, sometimes disfigured individuals called mutants. Others require other factors (such as radiation) for their powers to come forth. With the exception of psionic abilities, these powers are usually random; rarely do two people have the exact same set of powers. It is not clear why the Celestials did this, although it is known that they continue to observe humanity’s evolution. The majority of the public is unaware of what may cause superhuman powers.

What is Earth 1218?
Earth-1218 is the designation given to our reality, where super-heroes and other super-powered beings don’t physically exist. This universe may appear somewhat dull from a cerebral perspective, but it does have its good sides, for those willing to recognize them.
Current known residents of Earth-1218 are over 8 billion humans, and many other organisms. However, it is possible that there is more life elsewhere on other planets that may yet be discovered.
This universe had its own version of Stan Lee. Tragically, our Earth was destroyed by an incursion, according to Tom Brevoort. However, thanks to Reed Richards after the events of Secret Wars, our reality was restored back to normal.
How often does the Earth experience convergence?
The Convergence. Earth is one of the Nine Realms. As a result, it is known to experience a cosmic phenomenon known as the Convergence every 5,000 years, by which the spatial boundaries between the worlds, on certain locations around the planet, would cease to exist due to the appearance of wormholes.

An exiled royal family of Gibborim fled to Earth due to rising tensions on their home planet. Because of a prophecy told on their planet, a Xartan named Xavin became a stowaway on their spaceship and was enslaved by the family until the ship had crashed on the surface of the planet and the aliens remained dormant for thousands of years.
When the Runaways and PRIDE returned to Earth from the Dark Dimension, they discovered that it had been six months and the world had changed. The Church of Gibborim had expanded, and Morgan le Fay had enchanted Robert Minoru, becoming the new CEO of Wizard.
When Ego visited Earth in the 1980s, he planted a seed under the ground which he intended to expand and cover all of the planet. In October of 2014, the seed suddenly grew and began covering the area, only to stop in the middle of the process due to the Guardians of the Galaxy putting an end to Ego and his plans.

One of its major Easter eggs (which was already revealed in a previously released teaser) is the mention of a multiverse — a realm in which an infinite amount of alternate worlds subsist. This concept isn’t all that alien to anyone familiar with the superhero genre, especially Marvel.

In 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard ) — who’s admitted into a mental institution following the events of 2012’s The Avengers — gives lectures to his fellow inmates about the convergence of the Nine Realms within the cosmic aura Yggdrasil.
The multiverse is also referred to in Doctor Strange when the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) takes Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) on a projected journey through the cosmos.
The MCU is already designated as Earth-199999, which distinguishes it from the comics. And the latest Spider-Man movie doesn’t totally shoot down the idea that the MCU can keep that alias (I’m trying really hard not to spoil anything here, people).
